I attended the event last night @ Santos House Party. First, let me start off by saying I really enjoy hearing Lee and Danny play. Last night, having them go record for record, was a great idea; however, I think the music played was- average- at best.
Seeing them play alone was such a better experience. They each were able to find their groove and ride it. There were a few good tracks played, but I was not impressed at all.
The venue itself needs to have an audio engineer tweak out the sound. I left there and my ears were ringing so badly. Any time I ever attended Love or Cielo, there is never a problem.
All-in-all, it was ok, certainly not work the 25-30 dollars paid, but its done now..
i agree totally with what you wrote. on paper, a howells/burridge night seems amazing, but after saturday's reality, it was just that...a great idea. that's not to say it wasn't a fun party, but it wasn't inspirational (for me).
and yeah, highs were way too bright...and i def had a ringing in my ears for a few hours after i left.
I never like tag-team sets no matter who's playing. It's hard to keep things going and inevitably, you deal w/these constant break downs since one DJ wants to drop a bomb but can't work it in properly. Despite that, I had a great time and it was fun watching these two trying to out-do each other. But, yeah, Lee Burridge alone at Santos during NYE blew this night out of the water.
