More than a decade has passed since Slam last toured the U.S. Although many have tried over the years to get them back stateside, residencies at three of the UK’s best clubs (Pressure [The Arches], Return To Mono [Sub Club] and Fabric in London) as well as their work on music and their label involvement with Soma Records and Paragraph have kept them busy enough. But the relentless requests for performances and long awaited tours has finally hit at the perfect time, signaling the return of the Glasgow techno legends!
What started as one booking for Hipp-e and Halo’s Surface Records label party at the BPM festival in Playa Del Carmen 2013, quickly became a five date tour where ROOTS is collaborating with Soma Records and promoters in Playa Del Carmen, San Francisco, Denver, Chicago and New York to make their return epic!

Celebrating Kraftwerk’s extensive influence on electronic music, MoMA PS1 invites distinguished DJs and producers to play tribute sets in the installation Kraftwerk – Retrospective 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8. On four consecutive weekends, musicians explore different facets of the group’s pioneering sound that influenced musical styles as diverse as Electro-Funk, Disco, New Wave, Techno, and Hip-Hop.
Greg Wilson is regarded as one of the most important figures on the UK dance scene where he was instrumental in introducing new electronic, post-disco records coming out of New York in the early 1980s. The sound, he dubbed ‘Electro-Funk’, was in return profoundly influenced by the German electro-pioneers Kraftwerk.

Sure, people bandy around the terms "massive" and "special" when referring to the various parties and ragers that are thrown and perhaps those sentiments are real for themselves...but look at that damn flyer and gaze upon the artists set to perform on that night.
I have the absolute honor and privilege to be a part of this special night and share the many, many records I've been buying lately. So come one, come all and let's all come together!

We've got an amazing night of music coming to both the Sullivan Room and its upstairs sister venue Sullivan Hall on Saturday, November 20th.
For one night, we'll have both the upstairs and downstairs rocking with two very special sets of guest artists. Upstairs, the legendary Planet E boss CARL CRAIG returns to Basic NYC after an incredible debut in April for our anniversary party. He's joined by the esteemed Detroit artist, musician and producer AMP FIDDLER for a special live collaboration. Downstairs, the Olmeto Records label heads and UK tech-house pioneers LAYO & BUSHWACKA! come back to New York for the first time in over two years. This will be their Sullivan Room debut and we've been looking forward to this for a long time.

My Birthday Jamboree @ Sullivan Room on Saturday, Nov. 15 w/ Justin Martin
I'll be celebrating my birthday on Saturday, November 15 by playing the opening set at Sullivan Room. Headlining is the super talented Justin Martin from San Francisco. I opened for him the last time he played at Sullivan Room, and it was a slammin night. It's sure to be more of the same, but a million times better!
